Aussie Travel Code announced as a National Finalist in the 33rd Banksia Awards
We are thrilled to share that the Aussie Travel Code is a Finalist in the Communications for Impact category of the 33rd Banksia Foundation National Sustainability Awards.
After winning silver in the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards, we are very proud to see our grassroots campaign continue to compete alongside some seriously worthy competition.
About the Aussie Travel Code Campaign for Sustainable Tourism
Starting with the stunning Flinders Ranges and Outback region of South Australia, the vision of the campaign is for visitation to have minimal impact on the environment.
The growth of the tourism industry is essential to the development of our regions and we are passionate about ensuring this growth is sustainable for our environment and local residents.
By sharing local insights and tips, The Aussie Travel Code provides helpful, clear advice for travellers. This valuable information proactively addresses the impacts of tourism on the environment by helping visitors understand how to do the right thing.
Advocating for Sustainable Regional Growth
This has been a community-led project from start to finish, initiated by local residents to advocate for healthy and sustainable tourism growth in their region.
Informed by thorough community consultation, the Aussie Travel Code is a collaborative project created by the board of the Flinders Ranges and Outback, the Outback Communities Authority, Regional Development Australia Far North and Landscape South Australia – SA Arid Lands in partnership with WOOF Media, a specialist regional tourism marketing agency.
Along with the other national finalists, representatives for the Aussie Travel Code team will make an online presentation on the 21st & 22nd of March. The winners will be announced at the Presentation Gala in Melbourne on the 31st of March.
